Dick Butkus is considered one of the best ever to play professional football. In 1985, the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando honored his achievements on the gridiron by presenting the Butkus Award to the nation’s top college linebacker.

In 2008, the Butkus family received all rights to the Butkus Award® so it can be used for charitable purposes.
